Very, very fine steel wool (#00) does a real good job if the foil and WD 40 does not work. Use it with WD 40 as well. The handle bars are a good candidate for this. Steel wool and WD will not hurt quality chrome but may scratch the cheaper stuff so test first. I've used it on my MK3's rims, rear brake lever' and kick-start lever with excellent results.

Sorry Biscuit but I respectfully disagree.
I suggest using #0000 (4/0) steel wool with WD-40 as it is safer on chrome than #00. #0000 is even finer than #00 which can scratch chrome if it is applied with too much elbow grease even when using WD-40.

You are more than likely absolutely correct about this. I did mean the really fine stuff but shorted the grade by 2 zero's. sorry.

The BSA looks to be a Spitfire scrambler. The off road version of a Rocket Gold Star. Very desirable and quite rare.

Thank everyone, I'll try rubbing with WD-40 first see how far I get with that. Main thing is swapping the tanks an seats this weekend. As well as a little better cleaning on some of it.

Well I think Gma wants it gone, so she might take it over to Rabers and see what they say. Not sure if fixing it up will increase the cost or what.

it would be best to leave it as it is that is one cool bike ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,baz

Not like a full on restore or anything, but get it safe to ride.
trust me people dream of finding a bike like that if i had it and it fired up i would be off on it like a shot only afterwards i would check brakes bearings and mundane safety features that infect and corrupt our everyday lives ,,,,,,,,,baz

I found superfine #0000 steel wool is available and does a nice job with light rust on chrome. Used for rubbing down varnished furniture.
Mother's aluminum polish also works great.

Pulled off the tank and seat. Cleaned the roadster tank, cleaned the seat that fits. Didn't put it on yet, just taking baby steps here. Wiped it down a lot more, polished some of the chrome. Scrubbed the frame pretty good. Still lots of work to do.

Dont worry, the roadster tank was sitting on something and only temporarily while I took the photo. :)

If you want to meet the local Norton Club members, you should come to Vasona Park on Oct 5...meeting starts at 11am, but come early. You don't need to come on the Norton, just come and we can talk Norton. Ken Armann with definitely be there. Let me know before so we can meet up.

Cover piece isn't on it, I'm sure its in the garage. Also do any of you have an up close picture of this piece? So I know what I'm looking for. Thanks
