This is our latest Norton adventure for Bonneville. This is my friend Eric sitting in the early mockup of the recliner style bike we are building for Bonneville, trying to sort out where to put the footrests. It uses a lot of the parts from our ill-fated streamliner adventure. The engine is my old reliable 920, with a 5-speed Quaife gearbox. The wheels are 17" with TZ250 sized tires. The cradle and swingarm are from my old Production Racer, but now set up for a single shock. Forks are shortened GSXR750. We're hoping to make the World Finals meet in October, running in the 1000 A-PG class (1000 cc, special construction, open bike, pushrod, gas class). The current record is 150 mph, but we'll be happy with the first try if we just get everything to work well for a couple runs.

Looks the business but for that ancient lump behind the pilot : )
Sure hope this recliner is innately stable.
Center of air pressure behind CoG sort of stuff.
Why not extend peg for straight out legs?

I think we're going to shorten it couple more inches before finish welding the frame, and we'll probably put the footpegs near the front axle to keep them closer to the centerline while avoiding interference with the tire when turning. CP vs CG not quite as much of a problem with unstreamlined bike. Still a lot of detail design to sort out.

Hope as clever as dancers calling out "Break a Leg".
Will this one require a drag chute?

If I ever get Peel's act together for track day play Wes says he'll help and can use his old atuocross team name "Guppy Racing"

Looking at the rear business end view made me realize the possibility for Peel with tilting two front wheel steering and means to mount a cow catcher grill.

Nope. No chute, no fire bottle system, hence also no tilt sensor system, no car helmet, no HANS (head restraint) device, no SFI rated firesuit, gloves, and shoes, no "training wheels". Just plain old bike leathers, helmet, gloves, and boots. Much simpler to deal with than the streamliner. On the other hand, no crash protection either. Wonder if I could use one of the new inflatable "Michelin man" suits, like some of the motogp guys? Oops, there goes the budget again.

Except for getting the duct tape off. Ouch.

We had a big crash around the corner from me last week. Brand new Harley - a week old - rider with his wife on the back speeding and hit a Jeep at an intersection and flew 50', landing in their own yard! Rider was reported by neighbors to be wearing only underpants. Both are alive in critical condx but not expected to make it.

Edit - Sorry did not mean to hjack the thread. This has been on my mind so seeing that picture struck a nerve.
