New Battery, 14 A Hour OK?

A while ago I went to my local generic bike parts place to see about getting a new battery for the 73, 850. they looked it up & said they would have to order it. I wanted to shop around so I did not order it then but I called & ordered it a few days later. Long story short is that after a few days went by he ordered the YTX 14 A.. This is a 14 Amp hour battery & I just paid for it & took it home. My question is, is this 14 amp hour ok? I have the stock system now but want to up grade soon. I am going to have modern bright lights if it kills me doing it soon so should I keep the battery or make them exchange it. I'd rather keep it if I can use it. Thanks.

A 14 A-H battery is easily sufficient for a kick-start 850. If you intend to upgrade the lighting, and add other electronic goodies, spend the 250 bucks and get a 3-phase stator, new rotor, and a 3-phase rectifier/regulator. They're all plug-and-play and the regulator fits neatly on the battery bracket. Perfect time for a negative-ground conversion as well, and take advantage of the low-power LED lighting available.

ytx series battery should be a seald Agm type battery shoud be good no spill.

Ok thanks. Just wanted to know my stock system will be enough to fully charge the 14 AHour battery until I get around to installing the more powerful stator/rotor and regulator.

9AH or maybe even 7AH is all you need depending on what kind of headlight and other electrical gear you are running. Also depends on how much around town riding you do. I run 9AH with a 180W alternator and it's fine.
