FYI fellow Nortonians;

While trying to resolve the conflicting battery recommendations in the manual for my 2017 CR I was informed 'the battery we now use is MG14ZS-C used to be YTZ14S YUASA'.

According to a quick google this battery is also cheaper. Win Win?

Hi Clive , do you need a new battery your bike cannot be that old is it ?

Just investigating some sluggish starts. Not sure how long a battery should last - I like preventative maintenance where a few quid extra spent avoids time spent at the side of the road. Is a yearly replacement overkill bearing in mind I have done 4000 miles in 6 months?

I think it is!
I have done similar mileage (and more) on my bikes with Yuasa batteries year on year and not had the need to replace - or even think about replacing - the battery.

Thanks - useful info.

My original Yuasa lasted 3 years but much of that time it was untended at the dealership, so I feel it did pretty well. Although these bikes tend to drain them fairly rapidly when not on a tender, they have a good charging system as well.
