I actually record the show and forward it past Henry where possibleCannot listen to him either, finger poised over mute button all the way through but the Allan dissection of engine is good.
I'd say he probably appeals to the great unwashedI haven't seen any motorcycle forum comment in which people say they like H.C. But, The Motorcycle Show is now into its 12th season - so he must be doing something right. The broadcasters would have dropped him very quickly if he wasnt getting an audience.
Yep I agreelove him or loath him he is the only 1 bringing motorcycle shows to tv ,apart from racing , and not everybody who rides , watches racing .
It's definitely coolWhen you’ve all finished whinging about a TV presenter…
Aren‘t we missing the fact someone is gonna do something exciting with the 1500cc V8 Nemesis ?
Surely I’m not the only one who thinks that’s kinda cool ??
Who mentioned rotary Norton's or racing? There must be better ways to give yourself a bad fright. - Rotary Nortons ? The best fun you can have with motorcycles is usually with two equally matched, then go for it. I have watched Guy Thingamy doing silly things - the Goodwood Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy race is always much more interesting. Anyone can get a much faster bike and blitz everyone, but where is the fun in that ? I road raced often over a 12 year period and always made sure my bike was not too competitive. I have won a race where the other guy who was trying, gave-up - that is very disappointing.
You only have to say "Norton"Who mentioned rotary Norton's or racing?
I don’t understand the hate either. I wouldn't say I’m a fanboy, I wouldn’t wear a HC tee shirt! But I find his program very watchable. It’s just that I rarely watch it cos I rarely watch any TV.I understand a lot of people find Henry irritating. However, I watched him being interviewed as part of the Brooklands series , and I have a lot more time for him since then. He is the instigator of the programmes, and in the ‘presenter’ role, he never claims to be knowledgeable, just enthusiastic, which is vital on TV to make it communicate to the viewer. It is very easy to stand on the sidelines and criticise, however doing it is a whole other thing.
