From the text of a beautiful 1971 Commando on Edmonds, Washington Craigslist ad:

Engine/Clutch Package: 750 cc. Commando engine with approximately 100 miles on full rebuild by prior owner, Rick McEldrey, featuring case milled to accept BMW needle bearing main bearings.

I have never heard of this conversion?

BMW needle main bearings are similar to a Superblend. Not sure about the sizes.

Usefull upgrade :? , if there is one part on a Commando that will almost last forever it will be the Superblend main bearing

Yeah, it would seem that would be money better spent on things like BSA cam followers or lighter/longer rod/piston combos.

True, but if I'm reading all of this correctly, there's additional machining (more money) that has to take place to upgrade (?) an item that doesn't need to be upgraded! That, and I'd bet that the BM bearings are even more expensive than the Superblends.
As stated earlier, I'd rather spend money on something more tangible (like a front brake upgrade).
