Needle Jet flow rate.

With the problem of Amal Needle Jets tending to wear somewhat faster than other brands of Carburetor,
I am wondering if any Forum members have ever considered making up some kind of a simple test to measure
the flow rate of a Needle Jet.
I am picturing some sort of funnel with a Jet screwed in the bottom and a measured amount being timed.
I do understand that a worn Jet is next to useless in that it is most likely out of round, but a simple test would be
handy for use on new Jets when a matching pair are required. Say for racing with non standard fuels.
The reason I bring this up is....
I am having great trouble tuning a friends Amals for Mid range performance, and he cannot be convinced to
try another brand of carbs. That's OK as I have enjoyed the challenge, so far.
I have allways used number drills for Main and Needle jet tuning when Methanol was involved, and have even sat down with
a piece of emery paper on Needles and Slides, but that was on motors that ran at pretty much full throttle most of the time and very
little half throttle. This is a Classic Roadrace Outfit and some mid range would be helpfull. lol.
Any thoughts.?
Edit.. I just had a thought, is there a math formula re the size of hole etc.?

Somewhere in past i'd read of fella testing needle's flow but don't remember where to find it. I first came across sanding you own needle when I built up a hot V8 for propane and it worked a treat until ran lean 4800 rpm. The 'carb' had 3 finger size 'needles' and was told could narrow them and likely make hp beyond this limit but never got around to it. Now I face similar on Ms Peel with the nail in a pipe Lake Injector as no one has run one on 920 boosted application. Color Tune and close parts inspection and listening and feeling will have to guide me creeping up it.

Much as this forum has wide scope of experts its still a small sample of excessive Norton investigators and only about 10% of Nortoneer's are active online. hobot is about an unknown by the bulk of people encountered at rallys. I cut my teeth with the UK-NOC list and the British Iron list - where I heard of those measuring needle flows and the manufacturer variations. Will ping them to see if those are still online there to give some guidance. NOC-UK went private members only a couple of year ago and I've not re-upped membership. BI list has gotten thinned down by health and riding deaths and just plain age or injury to move on to other things. I migrated here for more new and old blood to share and learn with. Another resource are the ancient vendors who have their hands full of constant contacts around their business and racer support to bother with on line chatter and banter.
