I have a set of 72 crankcase that I am swapping out this winter. The cam bushing in the cases now are the 062600 and are in great condition. I have purchase a stage 1 cam kit from JS Motorsport. Although a little hot, I won't be going racing.

My question is, can I run these bushings with this new cam?

As a knowledgable one would know, the little scrolling is in the top of the bush by the oil hole but the real wear occurs about the bottom of the bushing(I assume). What might be the real world detriments of this situation? Not enough surface contact? Too much lubrication available?

I welcome any and all opinions and/or concerns.

You can run that bushing as long as you remove the tangs from the thrust washer or you can install the later model replacements with the thrust washer built onto the bushing. You are ok with both surfaces scrolled . Jim

Why break the tab off?

The tab thrust washers are about unique to the Combat range and serve no purpose
but to end up blocking the oil drain or inside of pump, if chewed apart to pass.
I've found two in sumps so far in two stock Combats, the other pair must have been processed by crank and pump into oblivion. At least Norton was smart enough use brass the steel pump gears don't completely choke on. In running the tach drive pulls cam to TS washer, so really the only one needed.
