Need a new exhaust system

OK, so I have a huge dent in my exhaust pipe and it is a balanced pipe system and my bike is a 1975 850 MKIII with Dunstall mufflers. The problem I have is that the pipe is stuck in the muffler and I can't get it out. So now I think I have to buy a new exhaust system for my bike and I need to know where are some good places to buy one? I don't have a ton of money so I'd be looking for a cheaper system. I was looking at one on eBay, here is a link to the auction and I was wondering if this would be an OK system to go with? Here is the link:

I also would need the exhaust nuts and the prices are all over the board and I'm not sure where to get these. If anyone has any input on this system or links to reasonably priced systems that would be a huge help for this Norton newbie, thanks.

I have heard good reports from Commando Specialties exhaust systems and their prices. Walridge in CAN carries the bronze nuts too for about $30 each. I can't vouch for any of them since I got my exhaust system from Xanders (out of business) and the nuts from Norvil, so I have no connection to the vendors.

I have both headers and silencers from Commando Specialties and am happy with them.

I have a stock beancan (balanced pipe + beancans - no nuts) system off of my 75 MK III I'd sell for $75 US + shipping. PM if interested. It looks pretty good. My Dad drilled some extra holes in the black caps of the beancans "to make them sound cooler".

My rusted thru pipe was stuck in the muffler also. Since the pipe was trash I cut it about 3" from where it entered the muffler. I then stood the muffler on end and tapped the sawn off pipe about an inch into the muffler, clamped the wall of the pipe securely w/ a visegrips and tapped the pipe back out as far as it would go. 3,4,5 repetitions should get it out

I got mine from Commando Specialties also and like them.

Be aware they carry two different types - there is a more expensive set, made by Wassell, with heavier gauge metal and no visible seams, and a less expensive set, with, you guessed it, lighter gauge metal and visible seams. I sprang for the "better" ones and haven't regretted it.

Although if I were doing it again and had a few MORE bucks, I'd go with Epco's stainless ones - have those on my airhead and they are very, very nice.

I have commando specialties down pipes on my bike.
Dwayne will do you right end of discussion.
Spring for the better mufflers or you will be replacing them sooner than you like.
New muffler clamps w/ hardware, loose the cross over pipe and get a 750 cc pair.
2 copper gaskets for inside the exhaust port.
And if you pay the postage I'll send you a new set from Domi racer that I'll probably never need exhaust nuts for a 750
head. Just check w/ some of the forum 850 riders here who have changed to 750 pipes if you can use 750 exhaust nuts?
I do not know the definitive answer and would not like to steer you down the wrong path.
Anyway if you can use them you know where to get the nuts.
Good luck and recycle that rust.

I looked at your ebay link after posting.
Yes these are fine. I have the nuts for postage only.
You will need two cooper washers for the mounting of the down tubes to the head between the pipes flange and the exhaust port all secured by the nut. You will need a spanner to tighten the exhaust nuts. Shock spanner works.
See post earlier regarding install as if not careful you will scratch the right side down tube w/ the kick starter right off the bat. Instructions well covered her in earlier postings just search same.
I threw my orig grimmey nasty down tubes in the recycle bucket and it went out on trash day. They were beat also.

I can confirm the 750 nuts work just fine on an 850. I have the "unbalanced" 750 style Wassell pipes (from Commando Specialties) on my 850, using Suzuki GS exhaust gaskets and 750 nuts. Works fine.
