It sounds like the Champion non resistor plugs are being discontinued as well as the NGK non resistors. Is there another company that will continue to produce non resistor plugs? I like the NGK spark plug caps but they are all 5 ohm

Hi
Maybe try here while stocks last:

This is a very good company, i have had nothing but the best service and the prices are Very good. For example i bought two plugs, two NGK caps and one meter of copper cored HT lead with coil terminals shipped from UK to my door for less than the price of ONE PLUG in Switzerland. Has everything. It has nothing to do with environmental things, rather is run by Mr. Green.

Have a good day,

Martin

Plus one Martin, Mr Greens company has been my ‘go to’ for all sparky related things for sometime now, and they’ve not let me down yet.

Perhaps with the Covid issues and a limited demand they haven't scheduled a batch at this time. There appears to be a few vendors with some stock.

If resistor plugs are all that’s available guess I will eventually have to ditch the resistor caps. Still have a 4 pack of NGK BP7ES. My ‘69 has points. Anyone know how resistor plugs work with points ignition? The ‘72 has a TriSpark.

If non resistor plugs are discontinued, it will make life awkward for bikes with Magnetos. From what I can find out they will work with a Mag' but give it a hard time as the working voltages needed are higher.

Green Sparkies has stock on Champs...at this point I can order up all the plugs I'll need for the rest of my riding career.
Second thought: I too have all NGK resistor caps. They also have caps for the screw on top type plug. The Champion resistor
plugs require this the top little nut is not removable unlike the regular plugs.
Anybody have a alternative?

Yes but they are all rubber it seems, I like the hard bakelite ones...easier to get on and off and they look better.

I don’t think 5k ohm makes much difference, though I ain’t a high tension engineer.

Why not simply use resistor plugs and fit non resistor caps......you don't really want to be fitting both together

I fancy the dark red bakelite caps...all show for me! Some take the nut on top of the plug some you remove the nut and the fit the thin screw into the cap. I don't see where they note that never noticed the difference when ordering and should have kept the box for the part number.
...and I realize that I'm just making life hard for myself.
A truly brilliant day for a ride let us all issue forth if we can!

FWIW some of those hard resistor caps have removable resistors. Take them apart and replace the resistor with a piece of brass rod the same length.
