N15CS Thread

Not to restart a dead thread, but I just picked up a real clean 1964 n15cs rolling project in upstate NY. I need to collect the missing parts and start the build. If anyone has info on parts or repair manuals I would appreciate it.

A 64 would have the spigoted barrels, magneto, and monobloc carbs. The front forks should be all norton, long roadholder, seat would have the white piping around the top.

Walridge motors in Ontario is a good source for hybrid parts and AMC Classic Spares in Bedfordshire, England is a great source for AMC parts.

Most of that bike is AMC except for engine, forks, and wheels.

Hi Bill.
Please, why the N15 fork stanchions are a little bit longer than Commando one?
Thanks
Piero

Piero, the N15 or G15 has a Matchless frame that was used for off road, it is completely different to a Commando and therefore needs longer fork tubes or the steering geometry will be badly affected.

Hi Dave,
I understand.
But i think that N15/G15/P11/Commando S or SS, are not off road bike.
Piero

Piero, in the 1950s and 60s this frame was considered one of the best for off road riding, today is a different story.

I don't think a Commando was ever considered by anybody (except Hobot) as a good off road bike and the S and SS models were simply styling exercises to try to cash in on the off-road riding boom.

The bike was developed as a desert racer.

Very competitive until about 1966 - then superseded by the P11.

Read the Hybrid history on the NOC website.

Hi.
I completely agree with you that in the '70 these bikes was for off road.
I have mounted on my P11 two trials Heidenau tires just because I want to try to use the bike off road and on the beach that now in the spring has the sand still very tough.
But I'm afraid that won't be so easy.
Thanks
Piero

Springs are the same -
NM18813 in the Commando parts manual
18813 in earlier manuals, including Dominator 88 and 99, ES2, Atlas and N15/G15/33

Ready for the summer .
Finally with straight cut logo on timing cover .

Nice Ludwig.

Nice to have you back too!

Welcome back too.

That is a nice bike.
Out of curiousity, what exhaust pipes are those ?

Great looking bike Ludwig, And yes nice to hear from you. You have an awesome way of improving on these bikes, always well thought out. Thanks for sharing with us, Chuck.

Those pipes look a lot like P11

Only vaguely.
From your pic, the P11's pipes run back flat for quite a way.
Not so L's pipes.
Who sez they were custom made.

That Norton logo too on the Commando timing cover - running horizontally ???
