Can someone post a few photos of an Original! N15CS center stand?
In particular the foot step rod, or lever (but the other parts as well)
Should it be straight, curved, have a foot on it, how long
I just purchased one and not sure that part is correct
Thanks

I don't know how correct this is, but it appeared unmolested. The pin on the side just sticks out past the drive side exhaust, allowing you to get a toe on it to bring the center stand down. On mine, its a real PITA to get on the center stand - normally a two-person operation.

Hi Thanks,
a little hard to tell some details in the photo
but does confirm the short foot lever
Maybe I could send you some photos of the one I bought? it has some pads or something near the top
I will send you a PM with my email

It's hard to tell from my photo, but there are a couple of small pads brazed on to the 2 legs a couple inches below the pivot. If you look at where the center stand goes, those pads rest against stops.

You have to remember that the N15 frame started out in the late '50s as the new frame for the Matchless G12/AJS 31 road bikes. It was modified slightly for the G15/33 and G80, then tweaked again for the hybrids. Rather than redesign the center stand for the change from Matchless wheels and forks to Norton wheels and long roadholders, the factory took the original center stand and added stuff to it to allow it to work in the new configuration.

This picture shows an N15CS with the center stand down

This picture shows a G15CS with the center stand up, showing just the short pin sticking out just under the exhaust - enough to get a toe on the stand to release it from the stored position, but not enough to lever the center stand in the down position

This picture shows a G12 with the same basic frame and the same original stand without modifications. As this frame is lower to the ground, the extensions seen on the G15CS/N15CS are not there, and the access lever is long enough and sturdy enough to help get the bike on its center stand

AH, SO!

I have an original one sitting on the shelf, then. All this time I thought it was a cobbled mod from some PO...
