In 20 years of owning ZRXs (3) I hadn't seen an "Adventure" one. So I came up with a plan for the '74 Norton flip play money:

My ZRX-ADV Project

I already had the fairing and an old / tall windscreen, so I morphed them in place. Also have a like-new set of Nelson-Riggs soft bags...

The bash plate is in-work-

That 10# sledge hammer barely made an impression...

Fits the lines quite well, just need to fabricate some stiff brackets...

GP I follow all your projects, but using a shovel for a skid shield takes the cake. I love it!
Yea, all that yard stuff is tempered steel, needs to be tough. You may have to heat the areas to cherry in order to drill for mounting holes.

This is my "use what you've got" solution to the low windscreen, just chopped two slots in a fairing I had laying around, and slotted in a bolt-on tall windscreen (I have NO idea where it came from, had it on the shelf for years before i moved up here 5 years ago). 3 sets of rubber-isolated hardware and VOILA!

This is my solution to lower the forks about an inch for that much more ground clearance... bought a spare yoke and chopped off the clamping rings. It's at the welder's shop being welded up now...

The ZRX uses elliptical axle hubs to adjust the chain; so, all you have to do is rotate the hubs 180 degrees, and you instantly gain almost an inch of clearance at the rear of the bike! It does require adding a few links in the chain and installing an auto tensioner, but that's less than $50 (my kind of cheap, versus $250 shocks)

I'll be able to rotate it a bit more after I lengthen the chain...

Oh, man... I hadn't noticed that "USA Location" tag with the flag and stars... EL SUCK-O

Baby steps...

Welder is done with the top yoke, looks great!

I'll probably run out to the ranch, swap out the yoke, and take a couple of photos...

Modified top yoke got installed, ADV pattern tires got installed (using a cool blaster rig to pop the tires onto the beads), Auto chain tensioner installed and adjusted, D&D exhaust installed. I'm going to forgo the shallow sump idea because the now taller pipes are still the low spot (by 1/4").

Taller tires on both ends added a bit

Exhaust swap, I used a CF can that I've had on my shelves for at least 8 years, it was nicer than the almost identical one the pipes came with...

Basically just needs a bit of re-jetting, then the coal shovel bash plate, and it's ready to rock and roll!
