I have two muffler mounting plates, new construction, they have an offset and bolt to the muffler. I am not seeing how the rubber mounts fit, most likely I am missing the correct plate. Does anyone have a picture of this arrangement?

Those brackets a great for tucking the pipes in a bit, I use them on both sides of the bike to aid rearsets pedal clearance.

Check when assembling, an over thick washer can be enough to make the bolt head foul the inner plate. This has the effect of by passing the rubber mounting (and putting them under tension) and kinda undermines the whole point of the isolastic design !

Those plates are definitely great to tuck things in as you say to gain kick start lever clearance ...what I have done is request the exhaust fabricator have the muffler threaded lugs to only protrude by 4 -5 mm to tuck the mufflers in along with the use of button heads on the lower rear peg mount

I just built myself a few of these with 3/16 offset. Gives me just enough clearance on the muffler. Mine look a bit different than AN ones. I took a piece of 1 inch wide by 3/16 thick steel and welded it to the back side of the muffler bracket, then milled out a 3/16 deep slot. I suppose they could be made with more offset by using a thicker piece of inch wide stock if needed. I had enough muffler brackets cut on the plasma table to make a dozen in case anyone was interested. Next step is seeing how much $$ chrome will cost.

Chrome platers are a dying breed down here in NZ.
I've had a few stainless mufflers made over the years but much prefer mild steel chrome finish

I've found a few platers reasonably near me just have not had the time to investigate yet. Only good thing is the originals were not polished before plating, just nickel dipped and chromed so it should cut down on the cost a bit.

Yes the original plates do have a slight shimmer to the chrome finish.

+1

I ground down my bolt heads slightly to allow more clearance

Thanks for the information. I am ordering the silencers but puzzled how to mount them. A great article. The stepped plate is just what I need. Many thanks.

The stepped plate mounts the same as original and will tuck the inside off muffler in by roughy 15mm .
