Ms Peel

Shane! come back Shane!..........er, i mean, steve you know how whistle dont you steve?

I'd love to see him back posting
I hope he looks in sometime
He also told me he'd had enough of the attacks on here

Why I had lots of bloody noses until I learned to keep my hands up , strike first and give no quarter the online attackers in my day would have been labeled “paper lions” a term G. Plymton used as title of his book …

Many folks seem to have big cojones online but they shrink to the size of peppercorns in person. And the world is rife with thin-skinned whiners who can't take a joke. Hobot didn't seem to be either, but he may have taken some of those people too seriously.

His posts were often written in riddles, I would have to read them twice and sometimes more to figure them out. But his passion for his Norton's was incredible, and his desire to improve them was never ending and would have me scratching my head sometimes. But he was one of my favorite guys to read and always had something new in the works. Sorry to hear that it was some on this site that chased him off, I liked the guy and even hoped someday I would run into him at a rally. I know I could have a blast with a guy like that around the fire pit with a few beers.

Sorry to hear that it was some on this site that chased him off,

He was not chased off this site.

Speaking as moderator, I can't honestly remember reading more than the occasional sceptical or derisory comment in reply to the dare I say, somewhat embellished content and eccentric (for want of two better words) writing style of his posts and for me, at least, the novelty of having to re-read sections of his ramblings in order to try to make sense of it certainly wore off after a time.

I know his frequent posting was an annoyance to some of our members (he still has the highest forum member message count even now) but to claim he was attacked or forced off the forum is a gross exaggeration and, in my opinion, yet another figment of his imagination.

Well if you think I was talking of you chasing him off your wrong. And where did I say he was attacked or forced off this site? And sorry to hear having to reread his posts wore on you, no one is making you do that or anyone else. You talk about thin skin, but you didn't like B.D.M. either. LOL

Well if you think I was talking of you chasing him off your wrong.

No, I didn't think that at all. I suggest you re-read what I said

And where did I say he was attacked or forced off this site?

I wasn't referring to you specifically but to comments made by other members that you obviously read and reacted to.

Hobot left of his own accord. He wasn't forced off. If he wants to use that as an excuse to leave that's up to him.

And sorry to hear having to reread his posts wore on you, no one is making you do that or anyone else.

As a moderator, I have to keep an eye on things whether they interest me or not.

You talk about thin skin, but you didn't like B.D.M. either. LOL

Quite right and I wasn't the only one and not the only forum he was banned from either.

Yes , was me that used the “attacked” word , I prolly exaggerated exactly what was in SS reply to my pm to him … he didn’t use the word I did , while trying to boil down reasons why he left on his terms … sorry didn’t mean to stir the pot …. that being said , I can remember several posters going after him over some of his wildest claims , which wasn’t necessary since I took his performance claims as humour …. I do miss his take on bike life , he meant no harm and was free with advice , if you dared …

Hobot hasnt been on for about 10 mos. He lost half his foot in an accident (mower??) so cant ride any more.

I wonder whatever happened to his Peel n Trixie?
That injury is f'd up for a motorcyclist. Damn

I could understand hotbot, but had to think about his wording a little more than usual. He left shortly after I came to take his place. kidding, but I've been referred to as "the return of hotbot" here. Fortunately, or unfortunately for youz guys, I don't care about being pooped on via keyboard.

That video with him kick starting his Norton with flip flops on and the oil pouring out of the sump or primary onto his garage floor told me all I really needed to know.

I PMed Steve about a year ago and he did answer my questions.
If some of you would like to talk to him, try PMing him.
When he was on the INOAlist, it was the highlight of my day to read his post.

It seems silly to miss someone that you’ve never met but that’s how I feel about Hobot. Before I joined accessnorton I was a lurker here for about five or six months and I remember coming across some of Hobots posts. I loved reading about Trixie and Mrs Peel. Hobots writing style was, shall we say, “unique“ to say the least but very entertaining. His posts are always a welcome read and I’ll miss them and him. You don’t know me Hobot but if per chance you happen to read this know that there are people here that sorely miss your humor, enthusiasm and your obvious love for anything Norton. Please come back to the site and grace us with your friendship.

I p.m.'d him, but never got a response.

I've checked through responses to his last 100-or-so posts going back to 2018 and anyone else can do the same but apart from a couple of replies expressing genuine doubts about wild performance claims then I didn't really find anything that could be considered vindictive, nasty or deliberately "naysaying" at all, so any suggestion by him or anyone else that he was constantly having to put up with "loud mouth naysayers" (his words) is overstated, to put it kindly.

His decided to sign off plain and simple , I didn’t mean to start up a “he said , thing” , I wasn’t speaking for SS or quoting him and I have apologized above … I suspect most members here have missed his humorous input , I for one always looked forward to his contributions here … I Should never have used the word attack , it was mine not his …

Yes.

Fair enough, nevertheless, he does seem to have given the impression to those who have been in contact with him off-forum that his reason for leaving was because he'd had enough of 'battling the naysayers' and said as much in his last post: "only posted to ease some minds of my surviving for the many Nortoneers that know my decades of sagas but no desire to socialize with loud mouth naysayers." but when I looked some way back (I'm not going to search all 18,978 of his posts) for examples then I found very little.
