Thinking out loud so others might help think through for me... Got windfall that allows bullet proof TT tranny but what to order?
Interviewing live and late Norton drag racers revealed a common reaction, [after spitting on the floor], "AMC boxes spill their guts on the track when launching with 100 hp", or Just went ya get decent Norton power AMC lets go, so most defaulted to HD trannies. Peel engine could make 90's rwhp w/o boost and at least 50% more on boost. Peel's main feature is handling corner power in wide scope of condition not the power plant per say. She needs to creep up loose steeps and do burn out stunts in parking lots. She needs to float front from 30s to the ton w/o over reving then relax into opens to say 160-70 mph.
Peel has fast change rear sprocket so that ratio can vary for special events but would like a standard tooth count for normal wide scope operation with a side car too. Peel has over 100 lb ft torque predicted and weigh under 350 lbs fully dressed out and 50' less paired down for 'battle'. I don't like to shift much cars or bikes so 6 spd repels me like a peddle bike. Peel could be good to 8000 for record attempts but otherwise lower 7000's max redline to live with.
I figure lowest possible 1st for the creeping and instant tire smoke stunt ease. Top is always 1:1, so leaves middle 2 or 3 gears to decide on. I liked the 850 taller 2nd gear and often used it instead of first on past Peel to save a shift and not just spin in place on standing tarmac launches or loose slope starts. This leaves just one 3rd or an extra 4th gear to consider, I think. This mid gear cluster is my mystery yet more intensive intended usage for Peel, ie: road racing in tights to the wide opens turns like freeway clover left banked stuff from 50s to over the ton. So 1st to 30 mph, 2nd to 90 mph, 3rd ??, 4ht ?? 5th - out of sight. Should hi torque low mass combo like Peel+me shoot for close or wide ratio for this most vital of all mid range envelope? Don't know if below ratio limited to specific offering or can switch among the gear spd counts.

TTI lists their "standard duty' 4 speed 3rd ratios 1.176 : 1, 1.13 : 1, 1.237 : 1
5 speed
wide as 3rd 1.356 : 4th 1 1.144 : 1
Close ratio same, hm"
6 speed
3rd on - 1.418 : 1 1.243 : 1 1.1 : 1
And all of em for Extra HD 5 speed, has lowest 1st listed and kind of close 3rd/4th.
2.438 : 1 1.733 : 1 1.39 : 1 1.144 : 1 1 : 1
For extra suspense wonder how high to gear rear for a land speed test.
