Recently shifted up to Narangba, North of Brisbane - any recommendations as to which historic motorcycle club to join? Will want concessional rego on Commando, Trident and Triumph twin.

I am on the N'side of Brisbane at Brighton, not a club member but a lot of my mates are in the Asphalt Demons car club and a lot of them have classic bike running on club rego's as well their classic cars/hotrods, myself have my bikes on full reg so I can ride them anytime and anywhere without the restriction with club rego, but my mates seem to break the rules to club rego's use and seem to get away with it, well most of the time anyway.
I been thinking a great deal in setting up a social bikers club with the mates but seems to be a lot of hassles, there use to be a very good motorcycle social club on the N'side years ago (Bikers United) was a very good social club but started to get too big then the Rebels outlaw MC forced a take over of them, it went down hill after that.
With the crack down with outlaw bikies the Transport dept. are cracking down with club regos and enforcing the rules for club rego's use, yes cheaper rego but I don't like restrictions.

Thanks Ashley

Agree. Now that I read into it, Qld's concessionl registration is unsatisfactory compared to ACT, Vic and NSW where they have logbook schemes. Overly restrictive and only for club runs. Having full rego on 3 old Holdens and 3 bikes is more than I want to pay, but the alternative is a PITA. Better start getting them ready for roadworthys.

Out of interest what does the “ rego “ cost ?

Not familiar as we don’t have rego in uk

Registration fee $136.20
Traffic improvement fee $68.30
CTP insurance premium $382.40

Total fee $586.90 = £308.92

Insurance, third party or comprehensive would be on top of that.

Thanks for the info

That’s quite a hefty wad of cash.

I presume that would be for each bike ?

In UK we don’t have a worthiness test anymore ( though the bike has to be kept roadworthy ), no tax req’d either only a motor vehicle insurance policy needed.

Thanks again 👍

To clarify, in the UK no MOT inspection or 'road tax' for vehicles 40+ years old, starting on their 41st 'birthday'.

But you do need to apply for a free road tax to the DVLA annually, they will send a reminder for the road tax and when you go on-line, tick the appropriate box.

Free road tax from the following April when registered as an 'Historic' vehicle.

Classic or Historic registration, including 3rd party cover (injury cover) is AU$48 a year in NSW and $120 a year in the ACT. That provides for 60 days riding on top of any club rides etc. As well as my bikes I have a 1986 Mitsubishi Triton long bed ute, which I pay $48 a year to register and for that I get to use it for 60 days a year - it's way cheaper than owning a trailer.

Club rego in QLD is $120 a year but there are rules, can ride no more than 20km for test runs or going for service/workshops anywhere, as for traveling longer distant it has to be an official club run as well you suppose to keep a log book of the rides and the Transport dept is suppose to be notified before the club run, but all my mates who are member of their car club, they all break the rules of club rego and have been getting away with it for years but I been told by a good friend that there is going to be a big shake up and crack down by the TMR and police with the use of club rego, rego for bikes here is cheap its the 3rd party insurance that is the killer, my Norton is solo reg and all up is about $340 a year but my Thruxton is near $560 a year.
Since the big crack down on outlaw bikie clubs (1%ers) from 2013 a lot of rules have been change for motorcycles, mostly to do with Harley Davidson in noise and illegal mods, racked frontend, how high the handle bars measured from top of handlebars to seat distant to just name a few, as well any club rego is now in the spot light of things.
Myself enjoy my bikes and riding time and to me I just pay the full amount of rego as I couldn't be bothered with the hassles of being pulled over, they have a task force set up by the QLD police and TMR dept just for motorcycles and their owners and big fines for breaking the rules and even rego instant cancelation on the spot.

Since this is a QLD related thread.
Try $509.90 for single seat registration for 2024. CTP @ $305.40.
As posted $586.90 for full registration. (dual seat or dual CTP coverage @ $382.40)

It would appear the past reduction (logical) for single seat (was based on the CTP (having no passenger) but that has changed it seems.

I was wondering why my last rego was higher for my solo as I pay my regos 3 monthly from my bank account, robbing pricks.

How else are they going to pay for the 2032 Olympics? Might just be the tip of the iceberg!

Yes the majority of people don't want it as really the money could be put to better use, but it gets in the heads of our leaders and tourism bosses, but in the long run we all know it will cost more than what they will make out of it and us poor suckers will pay for it in the long run, knock down the Gabba and spend $3b to build a replacement just to add another 8k seats, but of course we all know the $3b will blow way out by the time they dig the first hole same with tunnel vision and the blow out cost of tunneling.
They kicked out the queen of QLD to be replaced by Giggles distend to be kicked out at the next election, but who do we vote for as greed seems to overpower common sense.
Working in a GOV dept for 31 years I seen it all with waste and bad decisions made by our leaders and people in high places who just had no idea at all.
Sorry for the ramblings but just makes me so mad, we not suppose to enjoy ourselves anymore.
I won't say no more.

I agree with Mike O'Connor's editorial - ditch the Olympics.
Regional Queensland always suffers from the SE Qld sponge effect, but the next 8 years is going to be excruciating for our schools, hospitals and roads.
The Olympics were just an ego trip by Amanda Parachute (then Premier) - she's gone, so should be the Olympics!!
$3B AUD just to upgrade one stadium - jeez!

Regional Qld can't afford it - SE Qld won't like the major disruption to their lives (Olympics preparation and execution)

...did I mention that I am a curmudgeon?
