Looks like i'm buying a Norton from out of state.

Any suggestions on moving / transporting companies? If you have had experience with this i'd love to get a couple suggestions. The bike needs to be transported from Detroit to Nashville.

Thanks!

I have used uship.com a few times. it's a bidding system. you put out what you want to and from, and people with space bid on it. They have a feedback system also.

I would agree it's not that far. I don't own a truck though. So to fly or drive to Detroit, rent a truck, trailer my car back. Not festive. It would be more expensive than paying for a mover.

I use www.keyboardmotorcycleshipping.com exclusively (over 20 shipments in the last 4 years)

Tell them Born Again Bikes referred you.

They are unquestionably the best.

I've used ForwardAir, U-Ship, Allied, and MotorcycleShippers before; no more.

A pickup is $20/day + gas. That's one day up and one day down. Let us know approx. the quote for the shipping company.

I think keyboard has a minimum charge of like $400, but they're not short haulers, so there you go.

Perhaps a hot-shot company could get it done economically.

I'm going to try the rental truck idea.

All the movers are $500+.

I can get a Pick-up from Enterprise for $50 a day.

Get a small uhaul with a ramp. Or a van, last I saw they were $20 a day.

UHaul is $20/day plus .59/mile according to their site. That won't work. Not at 1000 miles round trip.

Enterprise is better but not by much:

MILEAGE IS UNLIMITED WHEN VEHICLE REMAINS WITHIN THE STATES OF TENNESSEE, KENTUCKY, NORTH CAROLINA, GEORGIA AND ALABAMA. IF TRAVELING OUTSIDE OF THESE STATES, MILEAGE IS CHARGED AT 150 FREE MILES PER DAY AND .35 CENTS FOR EACH ADDITIONAL MILE FOR THE ENTIRE RENTAL.
Dunno how they know if it leaves the states, but satellite tracking is always a possibility.

Budget also has mileage but at .67/mile.

How would they know you took the trailer for a 2000 mile trip :?: Just tell them you want to haul stuff around the city :!: One time I rented a U-Haul trailer and they gave me this thing about the mileage, I said it was for use around town and took it for a round trip to Ottawa (400Km round trip), they never knew  Of course if you rent it one way, that won't work

Like I said, satellite tracking is not uncommon nowadays. I don't know if they do but you could ask.

Re: Motorcycle Transport

I'm just a state outside the covage zone and i will be doing the 18 hour trip over a day and a half. I don't see it being a problem. If they do have the satalite tracking system (which i extremely doubt they would use for a $120 rental) than it's still cheaper than the freight companies.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I will post some pics of the new girl when i get her home. We will begin a frame up resto (and by we i mean WE, as i will be wearing you guys out with questions)!
