Motorcycle Air Bag Pants

Interesting idea, but I wonder if it really adds much over riding pants with hip and knee pads installed. After my last crash from a pickup truck pulling out in front of me, I bought an Alpinestar Tech-Air inflatable vest, shown here

I wear it religiously now, along with riding pants with hip and knee protectors, boots, gloves and helmet. But I don't see a significant advantage to the balloon pants. I've also not seen anything similar in the pants part of current airbag racing suits.

Just use bubble wrap and some tape cheap and when parked up you can burst the bubbles for a bit of amusement.
If you are so scared of riding to even think about air bag pants or anything like it, then maybe motorcycle riding is not for you.
Toughen up girls and pay attention on what is happening around you while riding, wear decent protection jackets, boots and what ever else you choose, fu cking air bags on for protection WTF!
Try telling that to today's MotoGp racers, Ashley. You won't find any of them riding in a suit without the latest airbag tech. There's nothing sissy about wearing reasonable protective gear.

Yes but racing is a different thing and riding to the limits you want the best protection you can get, myself am old school in everything I wear or do on a motorcycle, and I can't afford the prices of some of the safety gear that is out there, a nice protected leather jacket, or a vented jacket for our hot climate, decent boots and a good pair of fitting jeans, I hate gloves so don't wear them and I love my well fitting open face helmet hate a fully inclosed head, this is the way I been for over 50 years riding and so far have all my fingers and my good looks, paying attention and watching what is going on around you, plays a big part in being safe on the road, but accidents do happen, it's the risk we take every time we go out on our bikes.
I have had my spills in the 50 years of riding in the dirt and on the roads, but so far been lucky had 2 left knee injuries and one fractured left arm and a broken thumb from spills and plenty of bark taken off my legs and arms and the pain of getting gravel scrabbed out of wounds.
I don't think about what may happen when out on the bikes I just enjoy riding and paying attention when out and about, if something don't look right I slow down or think what are they going to do next, distractions is the biggest problem with most accidents and undue care of others, and yes I have made my share of mistakes over the years.

Motorcycle air bag pants …..

Blimey !!!

Some years back I’d have been happy to have bollocks protection but nowadays the ability to procreate isn’t high on my list of priorities

🤠

That said the ability to be able to “ try “ is still appealing

Group buy?
For what?

Motorcycle Air Bag Pants

^^ a somewhat tongue in cheek remark

All that said if new nuts are available why add extra weight to your bike

We buy insurance for the bike why not us? You want to pay to be rebuilt , esp at our age, rather than pay before and avoid a lot of it? And you don't buy insurance to use it you buy it praying you won't.
Are we better off with anti-lock brakes? I think so!
Should I ride with just a leather jacket in cold temps and then find Im so cold that I am not paying attention? We have all been there and today you can get a warm suit for reasonable money, which is money well spent.

How are they triggered?

I saw a video of them being triggered by a rip cord.

Was that just for demo purposes or is that how they work?

I'd forget about the rip cord, walk off, and explode my pants !
