Is there some reason that Morgo hasn't made a rotary pump for the Nortons? Does the stock pump work that well? I assume the rotary pumps won't leak back.
Rotary style would be more of a race application. I havn't heard good things about anyone using a rotary on a stock Triumph motor. problems priming ect. There is a really good thread about the pros and cons on Britbike in the Triumph forum. Do a search there and I'm sure you'll get lots of info. I know I did. That being said, I went with a regular Morgo plunger type in my '73 Bonneville motor.
I guess it's because the Norton already has a gear pump, unlike the Triumph or BSA ones.
The improvement would probably be more incremental, although a modern pump would be made of better materials.
I remember seeing a picture of the internals of the Morgo a while ago, perhaps in Classic Bike, likely when they first came out. Don't they have eccentric gears?
How do you guys feel about Colorado Norton's anti sumping valve? It seems like they should know what works. That would get rid of much of the need for a better oil pump unless you were a racer.
the bsa,s ive owned pumped ok ,but the problems were ,they were made of alloy and could easily distort if they were,nt fitted correctly i think the srm pumps are very similar to the originals but they are made from steel or cast iron which does,nt distort as easy
