More news.

We’re? I haven’t ridden either of mine in years because spares “Are not available”. You know I’ve tried and beat this horse to death.

Myself like others haven’t had luck such as you. You know this, you see this.
Instead you take it as “negativity “

I have better luck finding spares for my 1953 Triumph T100C
You have explained to us many times over the years that you choose not to ride your 961’s Voodooo, because of difficulty in getting spares should they break down. Your choice and that is fair enough.

I’m not sure that is reflected in others though. I know of no other forum member that elects not to ride for that reason. I know of no other forum member that is currently off the road for want of spares.

If there are, they should post detail here and no doubt the forum would assist in helping source parts, as we have many times. I was just about to forward my spare gear change link rod to Hong Kong for a forum member. Not now required as he has sourced the spares from Judd Racing.

Valid points BH and may be the case now but, we have received spares for legacy bikes in the past albeit slowly and painfully. We even had it in writing at one stage - agreement to provide spares but with no guarantee that they would fit.

We’ve since discovered (mainly through Stu) that virtually 100% of parts are common or compatible - with just a few (like the battery box) that may need modification.

As has been said, there’s a lot of money to be made in spare parts but also cost in their logistic provision. So I don’t believe Norton will ever be the fully reliable source for legacy 961’s parts they could (and probably should) be, but are still there to be tapped into I think.

If they have decided that they will no longer provide (even limited) support for legacy bikes - not the case I don’t think - then we should be made aware of that. Definitely warrants further enquiry.
Is it not a legal requirement that they have to supply spare parts for a certain amount of time?

Yes there are directives, but there are a lot of get out clauses so effectively once all the warranties are over they can run down stocks. The formal UK right to repair only covers consumer white goods, introduced in 2021.

Correct it’s my choice.
Just as it’s TVS Nortons choice to not sell us parts.

I wasn’t aware that you knew of all the 2000+ 961 owners world wide. Interesting.
Seems like less than 100 are on this forum and the Facebook group. I may be wrong as I’m not on facebook.

It’s also killing the resale value of the 961. Good luck finding someone that’s willing to buy a used 961 due to the lack of service parts.

When was this? And who did he contact?
Last month. Judd Racing (Owen) via a friend that was in the UK and just called Judd up and ordered.

Suspect it depends on who you get, how busy they are and (maybe) a priority list that sees legacy owners at the bottom.

Who knows though - will be interesting to see what sort of response Kev gets if he manages to speak to the right guy @ Judd.

I hope he is successful in getting an order in. If he can , then I will try again.

Lost count of the number of services/products I’ve sought online over recent years and just been ignored - or response was unacceptably slow.

Personal touch has always worked best for me Tony. I’d call direct, make a contact, explain in simple terms what you’re looking for and agree a means of listing spares that best suits them - multiple parts required to rebuild your spare head I guess.

Gives you a contact to chase up and hold accountable - stating the obvious I know. If they will not order that will tell us most of what we need to know.

My guess you have more experience in dealing with such companies than I - so my thought bubbles only👍.

One further point, there are now increasing numbers of Donny and TVS 961s being broken for spares. I've seen all sorts being offered on UK Ebay recently. There will be more in the future as older crashed bikes become uneconomic to repair, and so will be broken up for spares.
