Mods V Rockers

As the flyer says, there was a charity ride last weekend. I'd forgotten all about it until well after they'd left St Kilda, but jumped on the Norton and pedaled down there at 12:30. Paid the entry fee and started ogling. So many very tasty machines jammed into such a small laneway.

Superbly engineered VinCati. Looked like it came out of a factory.

A little MV. When I was a young feller we lived in Balwyn and just down the road was W.H. Lowe who made electrical switchgear. Of all things they also happened to be the Melbourne agents for MV Augusta and Ferarri. Would often stop and admire the exotic Italians in the display room out the front of the building. If memory serves, these little MVs were imported in quite large numbers for a while. Think one of the car dealers also brought some in.

A mate grabbed a shot of this old banger:

I didn't have enough room to "come about" to exit the laneway due to the appalling lock on the Norton, but the crowd were very obliging as I pootled through. Thanks.

Hello Dave,
Thanks for posting the pictures.
The "old banger" doesn't look too shabby either !

Great Vincent stuff, lots of work for a bike like that Vincent Duck hybred not to mention it must cost a small fortune. I love that little MV, what size is it? 500 single ? So cool, I really want one! Glenn.

Thanks for the great photos, Dave!
One question, did the Mods not even bother to show up?
cheers,
Don

Oh sure Don, there was quite a gaggle of scoots, just that I only took pics of REAL motorcycles.
