MKIII Rear Brake Light Switch

I am fitting a new rear brake light switch to my 75' MKIII and wondered if there is a recommended sealer to apply to the threads before install. As always you guys advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Les, the washer was missing and looked like the PO had used white plumbing tape to seal it. I will pick up a crush washer in town tomorrow.
