Having a tough time finding anything other than for a Roadster. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

There exists a seat from Corbin...ask ntst8. I just built my own from an old stock seat...tricky, but possible. There is a firm or two in England that makes them too. Think old brits sells them. Search the threads....someone gave me a good link for seats in some thread. Don't give up....they can be had...for the right price...

Thanks for the tips. I had thought about trying my own as there's a super upholstery shop near me. They've done some nice seats. I just need a seat pan to start. I don't want to sacrifice my original. The Corbin Roadster seat is just beautiful, but might be a bit pricy in Canada. I'll check out Old Britts and see what they have. If they have something, maybe BCS can get it too (I live about an hour away from them). Thanks again.

Roy,

If interested check out the "Corbin Seat" thread from late last year - a pic of my interstate gunfighter seat in there.

When i bought they were only available through Doug Macadam, formerly Matt Rambows partner at CNW, but i have since read that he is not getting any more in.

There were some issues with fit, not as good as it could be in matching the profile of the tank, and the padding is a bit thin for long rides but with a sheepskin cover it is good for all day.

Roy.. I too had some difficulties finding a seat, but eventually i came across this one. I bought it from a dealer here in denmark, but I have also seen it sold from Old Britts in Seattle. I’m quite certain I found it somewhere in the UK also, but can’t remember where.. It seams that it is build on a original style seat pan, and the feel of the foam is identical to the original seat, as is the seat height..

Thanks again for the replies. Both suggested seats are really nice. Niels, I've found BCS sells those so I'll take a look when I get home (at work offshore 'til mid June). ntst8, very nice looking ride! If I can find an old Interstate seat pan, I may check out that option as well. Anyone got one? hewho, any pics of yours?

They are made in batches and run out a lot, Mick Hemmings in the UK has them made and supplies Old Britts, got an interstate and the roadster version last year.

Caspermj.....Yeah.....pictures on the thread about procrastination, a bit down the page.

Neils......yes...I did finally make my own seat...see same thread below.

I did that with an old rusty interstate seat I got somewhere in Bavaria and using a large bowl as a guide, measuring carefully, marked and did the cut with a hand-held grinder with a thin wheel and then welded a rim on the bottom side. Did it with black rust paint.
Hard to get it fit around the rear fender, had a lot of grind and check work, but finally got it to go on the bike without hitting and damaging the rear fender, had to use thicker cushioning pads that go on the feet of furniture to protect the floor, on the pan bottom to get it high enough to clear the fender really well. Used the original seat padding, cut short and to form and glued the left-over piece on top of the back area of the seat. Used then a belt sander to form the upper padding into a hump and finally had to give it to a saddler to get the cover made and put on. All in all....other than I can say I did most of the work, it was maybe about as expensive as buying a ready-made seat from one of those dealers. The custom cover was the biggie, cost-wise. But.....looks nice, and now I don't slide all the way to the back of the seat when I goose the throttle.....

PS....nts8's bike with that nice Corbin seat...is the one that got me convinced to do up mine....and to do that computer graphics version of his bike...somewhere back in the threads a couple months ago....

single seat......well, kind of

Roy,
What I did as probably others have too, is get hold of an old seat pan and foam. I had it cut just in front of the rear fender support (on the seat itself where the rubbers are), then took 10-15cm off. had it welded up carefully and then reshaped the foam. I had a seat cover made to fit the new shape and it turned out quite nice. sort of a 1/2 to 3/4 seat that looks like a cafe style sort seat from the period. If you want to......send me your email and I will send you a few pictures........or better yet, I will make a link to a few snaps in the next couple days. for the moment send me your email though.

hewho, that's a beautiful bike. How do you like the fairing? I was thinking of adding one to mine.

SpitfireRick, email sent, and thanks.

I think I'll post another thread for a seat pan. All this inspiration has got me wanting to try to make my own :D . What the heck!

Caspermj..
Thanks for adding to the compliments I have already so kindly been given....

The fairing is ok...doesn't cause any head wobble or such, but don't expect it to make the bike go faster, little effect on wind protection, streamlining etc. But...it looks cool and when we are honest with ourselves, indeed most of the improvements and changes we make to the bikes, with the exception of a few , are never really going to come into play to really do much more than look cool. Not many of us go fast enough to get a benifit from most of these dodads. That's the way humans are. Putting a baseball card in the spokes of our bicycles didn't make them go faster either, but they sure sounded faster......
