Looking at buying a used seat for a good deal , would I be able to modify this mk3 seat 06.3677 to fit pre mk3 bikes. Will it fit with roadster tank and side panels? 🤔 Would a roadster seat be better?

Only you know your fab skills.

If you're asking, that tells me no.

How much is your time worth?

⚖️

Yep they fit just fine
You'll need to make a plate to fit where hinge goes on a mk3

yeah if it's too much work/time than no lol.
It's a flat plate with 3 holes
One of them needs to be slotted
That's it
10-15 minutes with a hacksaw and a drill
It'll take longer to get a decent paint finish on it

Easy, just cut out a bracket and screw it on like we do for the Hepco and Becker luggage system when fitting to a MK3.

Andover Norton sells an adapter bracket to convert the MKIII seat to the earlier mounting style.

I purchased a (mk3?) Seat for my 76 roadster from norvil over 10 years ago I imagine now. It was too narrow and doesn't have the stepped mounting lug of the original. As "les?" assured me it was the correct one and I must have an Italian frame ?? it was obvious I was stuck with it ! Still have it somewhere. I'll photograph it and measure it if any one needs a cheap? Seat. After a dissartorous belt drive kit from same emporium I deal with rgm now. Never a poor part or problem ! Roy.
