Here are some pics from my trip. I am in northern California at the moment and am planning to be back in Monterey by Wednesday. The bike has performed amost perfectly. The only issue was with the top end oil line. I had a slight leak so decided to 'fix' it in Oregon. A few days later my 'fix' failed and I was rewarded with an oily mess of a bike. Other than that, no issues. Oh yea except the Trispark. My first unit developed a nasty once in a while problem that was a huge pain in the ass. As a result I spent weeks trying to find the problem and in the end it was the Trispark unit. Boyer goes back in and my bike runs perfectly. After some misunderstandings I received a new unit which I installed. You better believe that when I left on my trip I also carried my complete ready to plug in Boyer. 900 miles into the trip on a hot mountain top the bike would not start. Working corectly my bike starts with one kick. This time it was just dead. So I installed little pieces of oil line under the points cover to allow air to flow through the points cavity. Not a single issue afterwards. I would highly reccomend this to anyone running a Trispark. I know some will say that my bike has other problems etc that caused the two units to act up. I painstakingly isolated the Trispark in each case by installing the Boyer. So thats that. Here are some pics. What a blast. If you have not travelled on a Commando you are missing out.

That last picture is oriented wrong, it looks like you are on the east coast with the ocean to the right!

hee hee

Sounds like you are having a great time - keep it up and get home safe.

How did you put the tube inside the points? any picture? will having a big point cover would help?

tell me ..I am leaving thursday for a 3000 km trip to the French Alps ..and I think I'll stick to Pazon ..

I hope that you're able to leave NW Europe's rain firmly behind you. :)

Philippe, believe he added 2 short pieces of tube around the 2 screws which then hold the points cover off the timing cover enough for cooling air to get to the Trispark. I have a special spacer to do the same for a Boyer MK1 where all the electronics are under the points cover.

Heat and electronics do not mix well. This again confirms my skepticism on the enclosed trispark unit. They should have just kept it the way it was/is for the triples. Glad your trip was safe and fun. I envy you west coast people for the roads and scenery. How'd that new age speedo work on the trip?

Thanks for the Tri-Spark suggestion - I agree that a photo may be helpful. I haven't had any problems yet and have been venturing out on longer and longer trips. So, far I am very happy with the Tri-Spark with a CNW single coil conversion.

BTW, what is the tail bag on the seat and where did you get it???

Thanks

Kevin
