Good morning guys,

quick help on this. I finally installed my front iso with a tool borrowed from a fellow member and it doesn't look right to me. I purchased the vernier conversion and I had my front iso tube machined down to the appropriate spec. However, once installed i noticed too much gap. I know I don't have the washers installed but still it's too much of a gap. With the conversion was I not supposed to machine down my front iso tube? or am I missing something?

Correct. The vernier conversion kit does not require the front Iso. mount tube to be machined down.

I believe that if you get the Mk3 end threaded adjuster it is wider than the thin version you have and so you can still you your front mount and the rest of your ISO parts.

I seem to remember there was some discussion in the past about the threads being different?

Any clarification on that would be hugely appreciated! I've already jumped the gun and bought the old style front mount but if I can save a penny in powder coating by just getting the wider adjuster it would be a huge relief.

In an old thread, somebody mentioned that the MkIII Iso. front adjuster (06-4665) was 3/4" - 20 UNEF, and I believe some (if not all) of the conversion kit threads are 16 tpi?
What tpi is yours?

I don't know what threading is on my conversion kit. I know my adjuster end looks shorter than the conical stock one. That's all i know.

I installed a genuine mk. 3 conversion and it did require the right side of the front mount to be machined 1/4" . I believe the later aftermarket ones did not require this. Which one did you use?

If you powder coated the iso carrier then you may have too much paint contacting the cup that should encapsulate the end of the carrier on each side.
You may need to file or grind carefully to remove the paint at this contact area to bring it all home as they say. I then use black gloss enamel to touch up the metal. Powder coat is quite thick but I am not sure what you did chose? It just looks like it in your pictures.
Cheers,
Thomas

I bought an earlier system years back requiring machining down the front. I bought a newer system requiring the front mount be left alone ,original. Use the latter I say.
