Mk2 850 Clutch slipping

I've just taken apart the clutch on my 850 as it was slipping badly and saw these crosshatch marks on the bronze plates, which I've not noticed on pics of other plates. All plates measure between 0.124-0.125, 3 of the steels are 2mm and one is 3mm. I'm going to give them a good clean and install with ATF, any thoughts on these plates?

Some people swear that these original bronze plates are lifetime. I’m sure they are. I got tired of removing and cleaning them, and still having clutch slippage at WOT. I’ve scrubbed and soaked with all sorts of cleansers, and have a clutch rod device to keep tranny oil out of the primary. They still slipped at WOT.
I’ve inspected and adjusted stack height, adjusted cable lengths and prayed. I applaude those of you who enjoy the scintered bronze clutch plates.
I have had no issues with Barnett plates.

Do you have a bit of wear on your plates as my mk3 manual gives a figure .142-.148, I replaced my steel and bronze plates a few years ago [they are still in good condition and with a pushrod seal] I have tried a 3mm plate but found the clutch slipped worse with the 3mm fitted so after several strips and cleans I removed the 3mm plate and went back to standard the slip has gone away though I remove and clen them when I do a service.

Some previous owner had a go-to on your sintered bronze plates , in a previous life . Never seen that though .
I mix and match other brands of plates without worries , to achieve a good stack height and the ultimate goal , a sweeter clutch pull without slip .

If all clutch plates are absolutely flat and not dished at all, and it still slips, then install a Barnett set from CNW and you will have no more problems. A slipping clutch will overheat the steel plates and they will end up dished, causing worse slipping. Graham
