i purchased an RGM vernier iso conversion kit for my 69 Fastback from Commando Specialties. there are a few different RGM kits. Regardless of what i had read, i figured there was no way the new front isos were going in my original front tube, so i purchased the mk III front tube which looks doable. got the NAPA syl-glyde. ready to go.... the instructions with the new iso's make me wonder if CS sent me the iso's for my 69 that necessitated the PTFE & end cap for the orig tube. clear this up for me; I'm putting on the new MK III tube & the instruction sheet seems to indicate they aren't used in pure MK III applications..... do i need the PTFE's, si or no? Hurry....the tube is lubed!!!

So, which particular kit were you sent? CS-1112? http://www.commandospecialties.com/Prod ... &ProdID=35
Front only kit, or front and rear?

Can you tell us why?

Yes, you still need to fit PTFE washers. As far as any other parts are concerned, I think we need to know exactly which parts you've been sent? If you can post a photo of the parts it might help.

I have the RGM adjustable Isos on my 72 Commando project bike .My machinist pal made me two cone shaped devices that allow an easy install of the front and rear rubbers using a press. I'll try to locate some pics of these tools we used. Made the job child's play.....Skip

yes, CS-1112, sposed to be a no-mod install into orig tube; the RGM instructions made me doubt i had to proper tube for the new front so got the mk III which does seem to be of a larger diameter. still a true bastard. assuming i get the front done, then the rear; i don't think that i'm gonna try doing that with it still in the bike like mentioned in one of the threads. i know i'm gonna bleed before this is over! ha. onward. i appreciate the replies guys, i do.

I'm fairly sure the front Iso. tubes are approximately the same internal diameter, however the early Commando Iso. assemblies apparently had thin tubes inside the main tube, perhaps the tube is still in position?

yep, does look like that inner tube discussed in the other thread ! indistinguishable almost; makes me ok with buying the new front. thanks.....

I made a special tool once. One piece set over the tube at a shoulder, the other sets it in.

You don't need it.
Go here and request a bunch of different samples. It will be enough to last a live time. These seemingly impossible rubbers will slip in with incredible ease.
