Hello Guys, My first post , I have all parts to convert my `73 850 head steady from standard format to MK 3 head steady and about to drill the head steady to accept the MK 3 spring bracket, I`ve seen a good post online on how to do this but have a question if anyone can answer please regarding said post in that he described fitting the spring bracket to head steady but offsetting it 1/8" to the right of centre, I don't understand why off centre ?

Thanks and Regards

Steve

Because the engine is not on the frame centre line so the head steady is built with an offset to the left therefore the spring bracket needs to be positioned on frame centre.
