Just returned from Prince of Darkness Rally. Seems the Nitrous cannister for Barry's Drouin Supercharged blown Snorter got used up around 2 A.M. at a sudden campfire tailgate party. Oh well it was good intentions for nitrous dialed in boost at 10 % plus mixed in gasoline the next day that never happened as planned but man that Drouin sonded good, whirring nioses and all that hyper power.

Say WHAT! Is this just a gullible hobot baiting post?

Nitrous is a gas once released from its pressure tank so I assume it was sprayed in with extra gas sprayed in too. Confused on running out at a party as NOS is only safe/effective to let loose once engine is really rev'd up in top gear or tends to just blow up &-or trash drive train. Seen it used in movies...and up close near the end run at the Texas Mile.

Sure would like to know how constructed & how long a Norton 'type' engine could take The Heat, The Pressure and The Torque, except maybe last couple sec. of a drag sprint or short scoot to top speed.

I think he speaks of an inhalation type of thing. You wouldn't understand, Doctor.

Hey dude, I'm in Arkansas now, the birth place of Willie Clinton, so know we never inhaled : )

Yes, 5 or so culprits had other intentions and the owner caved in to the pressure shall we say and the Yellow and purple - framed 750 Drouined Snorter had to go without. All good.

Here's a similar punch line to this laughing gas applied to a boost Commando...

Went to "Blow a bike" involving taping the throttle wide open on an old Honda CX 500 twin. Screaming noise, cherry red pipes ,a valleyfull of toxic white smoke. 17 minutes yet everyone placed one dollar bets around the 2 to 5 minute range. the winner walked away with 200 dollars on a 5 1/2 minute bet. Illegal now under enviroment laws.

I've seen destructive contests video of various Asian inline 4's that were pegged on rev limiter w/o oil or coolant till the headers melted off yet the engines never quit and ran morally after wards. Amazing to see. NOS though would likely consume piston Al as fuel in these hi rpm heating tests. I had seen this on u-tube but can't find examples so far.

If Peel don't make power to break a land speed record on just boost and water/methanol added, then could reconfigure to burn Nitro methane + NOS sprayed in - with water or CO2 sprayed on the head. With open belt primary, could also put on bigger crank pulley to up boost til it blew Peel's cabled down head to smithereens. Piston cooling oil jets @ a quart per min each side is already configured in Peel block and oil in frame supply with secondary external pump. Anyone else want to out sprint 200 hp bikes w/o wheelie bars past tire rated speeds?

This is fun to watch another way to melt a motorycle

Holy hairdryer Batman ! Barry talked about the Nitrous boost being best limited to 10 % by carefull jetting choices and mixing in some gasoline too. He has discussed jetting changes to the Droin. Also having to put a bag of ice on the Drouin when she got too hot. Also bearings for it being unavailable so he babys his but is considering machining down shaft ends to fit modern replacements. Drouin Sounds amazing.

Oh cool, appreciate the insights on amount of NOS expected to be tolerated. I would like to contact this Drouin maniac to pick his infected brain. I'd forgotten about dry ice packing in manifold, blower and fuel feed can but its a real helper against heat soak. Let him know there is a long term solution to the old bearings and bearing support against heat expansion. Bruce McGregor did his and Peel's and posted the way on David Comeau's AltanticGreen site and this forum too. His has run fine for over 6 yrs not even on long trips.

If the power can not be controlled and hooked up then can't take full advantage of it. Ms Peel showed me she hooks up unbelievable in straights or lain over, which excites me most of all. But I like bee line whiplash too and crave thrust that about blacks me out as bike almost runs out from under...

A real drag bike can injure your neck on clutch drops when not holding much throttle. I once had and want again such response I can run through gears to red line w/o brake and not move a bike length. I can practice some on THE Gravel but its never level and drifts start, so can't do it like on pavement. A real drag bike should only float front up till level for all mass on rear patch but not wasting energy lifting just leaping. I don't feel like a drag racer yet d/t the proven reasons factor but once did and its amazing fantasy to have as daily commuter.
