Mikuni manifold gasket?

Is there supposed to be a gasket between the rubber carb adapter flange and the aluminum manifold for a Mikuni carb? I do have one and frankly it's a pain in the butt trying to get it all aligned during installation. Can't remember if the original set up came with one or I stuck it in there for some reason along the way. It doesn't show anything in my Sudco book.

None of the MAP Norton/Mikuni kits on ebay appear to show one, just those twixt manifold and head....

Yes, that's why I was questioning the neccessity of having one.

Not necessary. The MAP rubber manifolds being sold in the 1980's (and possibly today) had/have a molded in O-ring like seal on the flange side. If that is what you have, a gasket on the manifold flange side would serve no purpose.
