Just an interesting note. Went out after work today and was getting ready to leave on my HD. Heard a familiar sound and saw an 850 Commando cruising the parking lot at work. (Chevrolet dealer)
I walked out and started talking to him. It was a 74 850 Commando. Alfred told me that he bought it new. Had about 70,000 miles on it. It looked well ridden but still in great working order. He had made some changes, like building his own saddle bags from sheet metal, (quite interesting) some electrical changes etc, but it was a great bike and nice to meet someone that was still willing to work on it and ride. Those bags were full of tools by the way. Interesting guy.
I hope I run into him again, when I have my Norton back on the road. Cheers Alfred.
