The only belts I will use are the Synchroflex tan belt or the Gates Synchropower belts.
There are a few belts around that will not handle motorcycle duty -although I do not know about the Megapower 2 belt except to know they can be purchased really cheap.
Is there really nobody on here who has any experience with these Megapower 2 belts? I've asked this on other forums as well, and so far not one person has come forward with any experience of them, or any knowledge about them. If this is how it is, I wonder whether I was supplied with one mistakenly and the reason nobody else has come across them is that they aren't suitable for motorcycle primary drive applications.
If you're reading this and you do have any experience of these belts, please let me know. Thanks.
Who’s belt kit is it? And who supplied the belt?
Since it is a syncroflex type belt it is likely to be an RGM belt drive.
Sorry, it is an LP Williams primary drive kit, which originally came with a Synchroflex AT10 belt. After 1000 miles and 6 years I thought I'd better put a new belt on (having read horror stories on forums about what happens if you don't). I bought the replacement belt from LP Williams, and got this Megapower " belt.
I could and probably should have posted this thread in the Triumph section - please don;t ask why I didn't, all I can say is that I haven;t been thinking too clearly in the past few days due to all manner of reasons! I suppose I also guessed that if these Megapower 2 belts are in anything like common use as primary drive belts on old bikes, Norton Commando owners would be as likely as Triumph owners to have experience with them. But it looks as if nobody has even heard of them, which is a bit worrying in itself.
I've done that - the answer so far is (to paraphrase) that they don't know anything about these belts, they just pass them on from the people who supply them, who they trust to supply only good quality belts. In view of the fact that the Megadyne website has a technical download which includes a caution that these belts are not suitable for use in synthetic oils (coupled with the fact that my belt has stretched noticeably in 3000 miles of use), I have no confidence at all in the product.Personally, I’d be inclined to go with the belt if it is what the belt drive kit supplier is offering. Maybe worth giving them a call / email though to sound them out?

Hi
L P Williams have a good name. The point with a Trident is if your belt drive is a Hayward type ie under original primary covers & not a Peckett/Newby separate dry primary clutch if the belt strips the crap goes straight into the engine.
kims Triplesonline is a good site & LAB will reply to you there lol
All the best Chris
