I've installed a set of Vincent straight bars on my '73 850. Of course I did this when the tank was off the bike . . . now I realize the fit is less than ideal.

The original master cylinder comes in contact with the tank pretty early on in a right turn.

I know there are several options available for upgrades.

I'll likely go with the Brembo kit from CNW.

I really want to keep the original switch cluster though. Are there any options to upgrade & keep the cluster?

Links appreciated.

Re: Vincent Straight Bars, Master Cylinder & Right Switch Cl

After doing research on the forum it appears there is a brembo unit that has an adapter to allow for the right cluster to remain.

Does anyone know where to find it.

Ideally I upgrade the cylinder, but keep the original cluster on the right.

I think Andover has one, so basically from any of your finer dealers.

Yeah that definitely looks pretty nice.

Price tag = not so nice though . . . $360 - ouch.

I am pretty sure Norvil has something on their website saying they have the kit back in stock. It's a Gremaca I think with a adapter to take the stock switch cluster. Google Norvil. I think it was in the "new items" pages.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

Looks like the one on the clubman racing site is the same as the andover one.

Grimeca master cylinder with an adapter plate to keep the original cluster.

$360 seems steep, but then again it is a pretty crucial part & performance might warrant the price.

It does. Test it against the standart setup, see the quality of adaptor plate and other components. Comes with brake light switch and braided hose and guess what I have on my disc-braked roadbike, my son has on his, my Commando-riding friends have on theirs........

I wonder if it would possible to make some sort of adapter plate that would allow the Brembo to be work with the oem switchgear? I have the Brembo MC and it's great but would like the oem switchgear. But I don't really want to spend 360 bucks for another new mastercyl... ;)

Joe,

Does the Grimeca upgrade kit for the MkIII from Andover run the braided hose down to the caliper, or does the hose attach to the brake pipe through the lower yoke?

The Mk3 kit has a brakehose that runs down to the caliper. We could have supplied it with two hoses to integrate the tube between the yokes but thought it was far less complicated to run one hose down, as on all other Commandos.
