Good point. It’s the correct sizing between caliper and master cylinder that makes the difference in brake performance, not the brand.

I don’t know the piston size of masters from GP bikes, but I’d venture to say it is much larger than 11mm. If you hung that GP master on your Norton with a stock caliper you’d have a piss poor brake.
 
What is a diameter of Norton stock caliper though ?
I use Chinese 11 mm master with my stock Lockheed caliper and disc on a much heavier Trident and it's very effective brake.
I believe my stock caliper's diameter is 41 mm and lever travel is very short, little too short for my liking so I have to use dogleg lever on this master.
