Manx Gas Tank Mounting on '73 Commando

Hey all,

I recently purchased a '73 Commando off eBay. The previous owner fitted a fiberglass Manx style gas tank from Dime City Cycles using cheap, blue, pipe insulation, cut to fit the contours of the frame/tank. Though it seems to function relatively well, it looks like garbage, and is clearly a novice's "jimmy rig" solution. Any ideas for a more professional mount? Thanks!

Featherbed tanks have those little U-shaped rubber tank insulators, quite expensive each for what they are.

This is not the only version ?
Honda tanks use something similar ?, they are likely less $$ than those.

If the tank is as you describe would be very wary -especially if you cannot get ethnol free petrol. The fibreglass ware done by Avon
for Norton was superb , but much after mkt stuff was not and its now surely getting time expired? My pristine original tank was destroyed by ethnol a couiple of years ago.
