I doubt if you ground it down the warranty would be any good.

You'd be suprised.

You can turn in a mangled screwdriver handle and get a whole new screwdriver. You can turn in a rusty monkey wrench handle and get a whole new wrench.

Just like that, no questions asked. EVERY TIME.

That's why i ONLY buy Craftsman, if they make the tool I need.

You may be right, they've always been good to me. They probably get more customers that way, but if you loose it, it's gone. That probably happens more that a mangled tool.

23412, NM 23412, and 06-2536 are the listed norton part # for 68-75.
FWIW the original hardware 5/16-18 W and has a 7/32 allen wrench.

SAE has 1/4 hex.

I'd rather have the correct screws which also allows me to use the same wrench for the 3 head steady screws which are 5/16-22BSF (7/32).

You can't even rely on the parts dealers to supply the correct hardware...DAMHIK....

Your right Grandpaul craftsman will replace things with no questions. I once bought a whole box of old rusty bent up & some even broken wrenches & a couple bad ratchets for $5.00 at a garage sale, took every one to sears and they replaced all of it with new. I was shocked!

Yep, I'm sure it all evens out for Sears to replace Craftsman stuff, they sell more that way.

I've NEVER gone in just to REPLACE stuff, I always walk out spending near $100 a whack.
