On A 75 MkIII what size is the allen wrench to fit the allens on the trans cover is it whitworth or will another size fit . I dont seem to have the correct size 3 1/6 fits but isnt snug .

Dan original were flat head screws with a screw driver slot , so if you have socket head cap screw' s then they are after market and should be 3/16 , if you are having trouble to remove try a sharp blow with a pin punch to the head of the SHCS This will do two things close the SHCS slop down and tighten the slack key and hopefully jar the screw loose . Do not bash the shit out of the screw head as noting will fit it . You may even find some one has tapped the old threds and fitted metric any thing seems possible these days .

Yes They were slotted screws I replaced the screws with allens. I still have all of them so If I want to go back I can it just seemed like the 3 1/6 wrench was a tad loose . So i wondered if it was a special size . Thanks

Dip the end of the allen wrench in ajax powder or any other abrasive cleaner prior to inserting into bolt. Should grip very well, trick works ettremely well on abused slotted srew heads. Allows you to put a lot of torque on it without slipping.
