Chaps,

I have a Maney belt drive that I intend to fit to my bike this winter (replacing the current Norvil item).

The Maney clutch drum has a steel back and bearing housing. I'm guessing this is for increased stiffness? Can anyone confirm?

Also, looking at it, it seems that punching a few large holes in the steel back wouldn't go amiss. Is there any reason, that I can currently not see, that says this would be a bad idea?

Why not ask Steve?

I think if he thought it could be lighter he would have made it lighter.

I may do Swoosh, but (A) he is a very busy guy and (B) I kinda expect him to defend his product. So I also wanted other opinions on the matter.
