Well this was before I noticed a ticking noise in my other video-thread. (Help me figure it out here: http://accessnorton.com/norton_commando3271.html )
At least I'm having a good time with this bike. More fun then the last one (yamaha), if not a bit more 'finicky' .

ticking noise

make sure oil is recirculating back to tank . i wouldn't rev it til you fix the problem. buy some feeler gauges my not be as bad as you think. sure is a good looking bike worth fixing how much did she set you back? M/C.

I've heard that noise a few times, it mostly turned out to be a worn guide. Perhaps thats why it's worse when hot.

Valve stem guide?

and MC1101, I just checked/set the clearances for the rockers. The exhaust ones seemed kind of overly tight. Put them back to .008".
