Optional. I don’t use them but nothing stopping you from doing so.

I think it depends on the climate where you live. In winter in NZ I find them useful otherwise you must warm up for a few minutes before moving off and sometimes its really hard to get off the idle.

I offered up a post on this a couple of months ago and am now unable to find it.

Synchronization was driving me nuts. Cliffa turned me on the Madass sync adaptor plate.

Once installed and with very little tweaking the performance has been flawless.

I just installed mine. I did it on the bench and then installed it on the bike. Much easier.
I think it's a great kit. I would have made a few things differently.
That idle adjuster is a royal pain to adjust. If it was drilled at an angle so it was angled away from the carb body it wouldn't be so hard to grasp and turn.
The balance tube hole should have been a slot as it bends the hose too sharply.
Other than that it is worth every penny, quid, yen that money can buy.
Great job Don!

Thank you.

If the idle adjustment screw on the Madass plate won't hold its position, back off the adjustment screw from desired idle position, put a small dab of thread lock on it, and screw it back in to original setting.
The Threadlock holds it holds very well but still allows desired adjustment.

Is it threaded right into the aluminum plate? It looks to me like that screw must take a pounding every time the throttle is shut.

what is the difficulty in raising or lowering 932 Amal needles with this gantry kit installed?

Just to be clear, I said it was a pain to adjust. Meaning too hard to get a decent grip on it to turn it. Plus the spring bites into the thumb screw end and turns it back onto itself. So for every 1/4" turn it springs back an 1/8". In retrospect, I would have put a washer between the spring and the knob end to act as a slip joint.
I just got back from a ride and this kit transformed the bike into, well, I don't know what!
Quick throttle response, quick acceleration. I love it.

I will take it back off to make those changes I suggested earlier someday this winter. Until then I'll be riding' with bugs in my teeth.

The thumb screw is too close to the carb body for my fat fingers to get a good grip on. I knew if my daughter was home she could turn it with ease with her skinny fingers.
I don't work for Madass140 but his products have been a real plus to our hobby.

That's something I have noticed too but it's only just recently started and I have had mine on for two years. I'll probably use the same fix.

Still very happy with the kit.

I adjusted the idle with some pliers. I know some people are constantly fiddling with their idle. You’ll find with this kit the idle will be rock steady.

It won't fix worn throttle slides.

No issues with that. Once set, it holds its place since I put the threadlock on it. All drift is eliminated.

You still have to pull the four cap screws to access the throttle body, the amount of extra "attention" is minuscule

Huh, I am able to reach down with my left hand and adjust the idle screw with my gloves on, I have never considered my fingers as fat though.

I found the idle screw sweet spot with a vacuum gauge on both carbs and matched them up.
The idle adjustment screw on the Madass plate is influencing both carbs at the same time in exactly the same way.

There are going to be nuances for each rider on each individual bike.
As a general application this offering is a big plus in terms of synchronizing your carburetors while eliminating the other adjustment issues from throttle twist play to needle lift. It helps keep synchronization in place offering more consistent performance from your throttle system and carburetors.

Some have reported that it makes the throttle "twitchy". Does that mean reduced throw (rotation) of the twist grip?
Maybe a bigger cable wheel would fix that?
