im not sure how many of you have bought these but I just installed it last night and it’s beautiful. I can’t tune it yet but I can’t wait to fiddle with it.

Despite the instructions being succinct even I managed to get them on just fine. I do have the stop nuts on the cable wrong in the above picture.

And as you can guess I shot video of the process.

Does anyone have any other tips or tricks with their set up? The instructions called to use some forceps to get the needle into the slide. I’ve always just hooked the spring over the top of the slide and dropped the needle in. With the lighter springs this was a breeze.

I’ll update this thread but add your notes.

I'd fit that to my bike simply to make it look better. It is like the conical tacho on a Manx - real racing stuff.

The sad thing is that I can't bring myself to spend the $6ea for the plugs for the choke holes so I just tape them over. $100+ for the kit, no problem! I have weird priorities.

I do everything but install the spring, then snap the spring end over the cable at the carb top and essentially screw it on.

Just squirt some silicone RTV in the holes and smooth out both sides so it is nice and clean and fills all the threads.

I bought that Madass140 setup for my 74 Mk2 and sprung the $6 for the choke hole plugs. remember, doesn't cost any more to go first class - you just can't go as far - :D

Mine is fitted and ready to be set up with vacuum gauges once she's running in the new year.... the only mod I have made is to replace the Philips head top cap screws into stainless cap head screws.... well pleased how it looks

It's a great upgrade, just be sure to do a preliminary sync of the throttle cables with the idle adjusters on the carb completely bottomed out, and the brass thumb adjuster can be quite snug, I find it easier to turn with the throttle slightly open

Bottomed out? Do you mean screw them all the way in?

And yes the brass adjuster takes a bit to turn. Quality tolerances!

no, I mean with the slides bottomed out, the (7mm I think) acorn nuts that clip into the gantry arms can then be tweaked to perfectly sync the cables

Thank you for the clarification. Yes, I’ve backed the throttle stops (idle adjusters) out per the instructions. I think Don said one full turn but mine took more.

I backed mine close to two turns.... not sure if it's because both new premiers fitted.
It does take a bit of setting up getting the piano wire set correctly with the new throttle stop in the mid position. To allow a good range of adjustment.
I fist balances then using a 2 mm drill under both slides

What I ended up doing is unscrewing the throttle (slide) stop screws until they were flush with the body of the carb.

The other thing I had to do is move the throttle cable end to the second slot. Now I could get the proper slack in the cable.

And lastly I synced the slides. I have a video (duh) that I'll upload soon (it's on Facebook already). Nothing like watching the bolt twitch at 120 fps slo-mo! Riveting!

For those of you who've had this set up for a while have the cables worn out the silicone tubes you put in the carb tops? I put some silicone lube on the cable.

Since you've (ahem) blanked off the choke cable hole, I assume that it's still possible to use a choke with this contraption? My 850 likes the choke and I won't delete it.

You may want to have some coffee before watching this fascinating video.

Like a whole pot.
