Awhile ago I fitted a new roller bearing. It was a FAG NJ203E.C3 with numbers on one side of both races. Old Britts say to keep numbers on same side, which meant they should face the casing. The outer got inadvertently fitted the wrong way and I was wondering if it mattered. It's a new case and 'box is reassembled so would prefer to keep it as is if not going to cause problems.

Leave it as is, it is better to have them facing the same way but the modern bearing is made to such tight tolerances getting it wrong will not matter. When you test the actual bearing clearances against the allowed tolerances they use less than 10% of the allowed range. You stand more chance giving yourself new issues fixing the issue than leaving it be.

yep i agree leave it as it is it will be fine

I always put bearings in so that the numbers are showing, to know what I've got when replacement time comes.
