Very good - although I'm sure you misspelled Garner... and it was many patrons and investors!
Fullauto, he had 7 Norton Commandos and a Honda 50cc step-through. His book ‘Seven Pillars of Wisdom’ refers to the pushrods in the Commando engine and the arcane knowledge required to remove the cylinder head in the bike while juggling these push rods with 3 hands.

I began believing that I had a grip on the topic, but am now totally confused by the assumption that appendage #3 is assumed to be a hand. .. Two rights & one left, two lefts & one right, or some unknown?.... I need my coffee before I brain fart.

Back in the 1950s in Melbourne, Australia , Frank Hardy was jailed for writing something similar about John Wren's wife and his gardener- in his book 'Power Without Glory'. These days it would be about the muscle-bound pool attendant and the demure young missus.

It’s a very tranquil, dare I say, meditative ambience inside. I can easily imagine whiling away the hours engrossed in a good book there, as of course, he did.

strange coincidence on the day, but some time ago I was browsing a bookshop and bought a copy of the Seven Pillars of Wisdom thinking it was something I 'ought' to read. Walking back through town, I heard some interesting bikes, and one of them was a Brough. First (and only) time I have seen one on the road. (other bikes were a Vincent and a Commando)

My only time seeing a Brough was on the way to the Isle of Man in 1978. I’d never even heard of one at that point and never noticed what George Roper was pulling his side car with.

Seven Pillars is not an easy read.
I got kinda hooked and have read every book about TEL I can find! IMO the best (by far) is - Hero: The life and times of Lawrence of Arabia by Michael Korda. This one is genuinely difficult to put down !
Although David Leans 1962 film is still my favourite film of all time, reading the real life accounts makes you realise how poor the storyline is and that actually, the real story is FAR more wild and adventurous.
