he doesn’t tell the pension scam correctly. It was outside individuals’ money that was used by Norton for funding production/ keeping finances going, which disappeared when the company folded. He is correct to criticise the tank cut outs and turning circle, IMHO.

Can’t deny the passion, quite a few of the facts are incorrect, more homework needed, enjoyable little video, but the bike in parking bay doesn’t half stand very upright, that’s why I shortened my side stand.

So true.
It's why I bought the shortened stand.
But the bike is still sometimes precariously perched depending on the crown of the road that I park on.
High crown, no problem, flat crown, the bike is still standing a bit too upright for my comfort.
Dr Bob should take notice of this, and the new twins should not have this idiosyncrasy.
And If Norton plan on continuing 961 production to any extent in the future, this issue should be corrected.
It's a simple 961 "enhancement".:cool:
 
PLEASE, someone get that man some bespoke billet/carbon fiber titanium matrix, mostly invisible indicators, NO person should be made to suffer plastic.

He’s working pretty hard at branding himself I think, and he’s rather good at it! A natural in front of the camera. Cinematography/production is excellent. Placing bike to surroundings - spot on.

As interesting as some of the history content is, I hope he’s gonna get into a more serious bike critique at some stage. He’s certainly showing the 961 in full bloom though, that’s for sure. He’ll be very popular in Solihull!

Im still in the old leather jacket brigade. My bike is kept clean but that is about it. But no doubt he is noticed by the ladies...
 
Watched him for a while and he's more of a "lifestyle vlogger" which TBH, suits Norton
Agreed about him, for certain - the 961 a lifestyle product though? I think some might view it as a little more than a bike to be used to meet your girlfriend for coffee, whilst pondering the beauty of your environment;)!

100% - that's why I think it's a good fit for the brand. I doubt Norton want to be entirely attached to grumpy old white men with oily hands

Yep, on reflection I have to admit you are spot on. This push for premium is pretty well represented by our rather posh hero Freddie. And yes, he’s as far removed from the average Norton rider as you could possibly get! Only time will tell whether Norton is heading in the right direction - let’s hope so.

Here he is careering around London emjoying the finer things in life! Turning a few heads whilst doing so, including a couple of coppers😄! Good job he’s on the SP though, the CR would be torture personified in the ‘big smoke’!

Not quite, recently at the Stafford show there were quite a few young lads in the their 20's who owned Norton Commando's, it's these that Solihull should be catering for plus the premium end older owners with money in their pockets. If they have the backing of TVS then I'm sure it makes sense to cover all ends of the market. Like it or not there is a fare bit of brand loyalty in motorcycles.

But maybe some of the younger blokes are looking for something that looks and feels different
As good as they are the triumph twins are everywhere
The 961 definitely has something about it
 
All good points - it won’t be about the 961 shortly of course, it’ll be all about the new lineup. I would’nt imagine they’ll keep the 961 in production for any longer than they need to, with no opportunity to export; likely wanting to concentrate effort elsewhere I think.

Norton has stated that there will be ‘something for everyone’ and that ‘premium doesn’t necessarily mean expensive’. Not clear whether they were referring to a diversity of model types or a wider range of price points than we might be expecting (or both of course).

Whatever the offering are, let’s hope that they’ve read the market correctly and can meet expectations - this is likely Norton’s last/best chance of succeeding in a notoriously difficult marketplace. How important is Motorcycle Live 2024!!? 🤞

Freddie waxes (even more) lyrical - if that were even possible! Somebody obviously told him he was gushing too much! He better give both sides!🤣 Fair enough say I - faultless it ain’t!

In the end though, he gets it. You either do, or you don’t! It’s not for everybody, but it’s a bike that ya really can’t comment on unless you’ve ridden it. He seems to be doing it justice.
