I have the Fauth Fork Mod in my commando. It is a big improvement over the oem suspension. But please sir, I want some more!

Can anyone tell me if the Lansdown mod provides either or both of the following vs the Fauth:

1. More fork travel
2. More compliant (I hate to use the word "softer") ride.

FWIW, if the L has a "better" ride but lowers the bike, it's a non starter for me here in Mexico.

Ideally, I'd like the bike to be raised but only very slightly. With the fauth mod an tire pressures above 30 it will clear MOST of the speed bumps without scraping but there are a few…

Also the cobblestones play heck in general with the suspension so anything that could help smooth them out…like the suspension on my wife's BMW does, would be helpful. Yes, I realize that her Beemer has a 2012 suspension and my Norton has a modified 1940-something suspension. ;)

Well Mike as far as I know I am the only one providing a kit with 6 inches of travel stock is 4 1/2 and I think the L kit is very close to stock.
I don't know if you bought a set of my AMCO15 dampener caps to go with your kit these have just a bit tighter spec than the stocker and allow for some tuning with fluids used. The L kit splits the function one side is rebound the other compression and you can set them till you like it.
The C kit takes it another leap at about a 1000.00 it is just like your wives BMW I have installed on a mark three. Just last year wow.
The Dampener caps are 30.00 so my whole kit is about 110.00 as you say better that stock.
Kina neat so many nice things for Norton’s.

It's been a several years so I may be remembering this wrong but as I recall, I purchased the kit from you which consisted of springs and a spacer and instructions on how to modify the dampers and I purchased the new dampers/ rods/caps from Clubmans. I don't recall that you had the complete units - rods/caps/dampers/springs available then. Does that sound right? It probably was in 2007.

As I said, I was very happy with the change and it totally transformed the bike. I'm just looking for something that will allow me to hopefully keep up with the guys on their fairly new dual sports on the rougher stuff without beating me/the bike to death BUT also without looking totally non-stock. I realize these two requirements may be impossible. I'm quite happy with the front end on normal roads with the usual bumps/potholes but topes (speed bumps) and the cobbles are brutal. The rear is OK but clearly the Hagons are not tailored for my weight/riding style and I have been thinking about having some custom shocks made by somebody.

To gain more travel, extend the damper rod,and add more spring, as Steve as done, leaping over deer or dropping off cliff's thats usefull...on the road.....?
softer ride ? with stock springs? that's another issue,
John Dunn the Norton owners club Tec person as tried the Lansdowne Kit and his conclusion can be read on my webb site, as LAB's can be read here. i have never met John ,so his report is the Bottom Line...not to say there as been a couple of issues in the past...but 2-3 out of 350 aint bad! I have allways stated my kit will make good forks better...but bad forks a lot worst...and there's plenty of worn out forks out there!
Remember The Norton design is 60 years old, some improvements can be made, For starters PEEK bushs will reduce stiction, and carfull checking the assembly for mis-alignments is the all important MUST.
Employing top and bottom bush's on spindly stanchions is very old "hat" .
Modern design is the use of larger tube's direct into the slider with a ptfe wear band , which offers greater ridgidity, less wear, smoother action.
Adrian Deadman /EEK racing installed the kit, and complained the action was harsh, i re-sleeved the sliders and this transformed the action, the lower steel/iron bush had worn a barrel shape in the sliders and the bush was sticking in the worn surface, as the lansdowne kit offers anti-dive the fork was reluctant to react to bumps..
After the re-sleeve he contacted me to say the forks where now sweet...
Jerry Mcwilliams 98 mph lap at Goodwood on a Lansdowne equiped Manx says it all?
