DKt mentioned interest in tuning the simplest of 'carbs' Lake Injector nail in a tube so hope it leaves him as satisfied as me on the delicate tedious process. Its a true low head, nil pressure injector as does not depend on venture suction like a carb just pure air mass flow, so self corrects for great altitude manifold pressure changes.

Yes too aware of that so may have to plumb air supply to tank with pop off to keep pressure head constant below 1 PSI. Yet there are enough examples of getting these simple things to work, especially on boost so I'm hoping I can too. I've Lectron and QuikSilver carbs on hand and their sources of needles so not exactly having to invent the nail all over again. There are a lot of folks betting and sneering against me/Ms Peel which just ups the ante to me to enjoy later.

These are supposed to work ok with the drouin but better option was the lectron i thought.
I do like the old gardners for period Flatslide but parts have always left me cautious as I don't have a machine shop or the skills require. Gardners with remote bowl I think look really cool but as for performance I really don't know.
One carb setup that has always interested me is the delorto 36mm thin setup that was re-released a few years ago. They were fitted to guzzi and Ducati in the 70's. Jetting made me baulk. I've asked the forum a few times what they think but no real info.
I have a jetting and needle guide for everything except norton including 850 guzzi but I am not a fantastic tuner.

Now don't go putting words in my posts, I didn't say nothing about Lake type crop being better than the later developments, only that I think I can get it going quick good enough, with expected intense tedium Norton project life style, between rest of life to steal from. I've looked into the add on float bowls from vintage to super modern. What i plan to do to start is fit small aircraft fuel primer that lets some in then shuts off till running opens main feed. *Ugh* The real reason I'm sticking with or rather stuck with the Lake is I've moved charger off crank to behind engine so no room for carb or even manifolding past it. Still have to invent the reverse rotation alternator drive that can fit under the impeller shell which brings up over drive ratios of the dragster alternator rpm 10K limit. part of Peel appeal to me is sticking to 70's technology as practical or forced. I will never get over the disbelief reactions when under powered so am restless to see even more. What really scares me on the field tests to dial in needle is the throttle response getting to and from pavement w/o hurting the cash cage. Both sides of Peel are prettiest to me.

Wal Philips? Now i had one that ran a bsa, once adjusted for flat out it worked well...tick over and low range...no that good, and again rich with full tank, the Wal was a real crude affair..hole in spindle .connected to a butterfly, via adjustable linkage. But worked!

I think like the early Hilborn gear those were normally called a semi controlled leak.
