Hi gang,

after rescuing my 70 Fastback and bringing it back from the dead she now is reliable(if that’s possible) and fast. It seems to be a midyear or later 70 because it has the holes for the later MK3 center stand of which I upgraded already. And while it makes a world of difference in stability(and no leakage)it also presents a problem. Since it mounts on the same structure as the engine I am worried that kick starting the bike while sitting on it may screw up the isolastics which are new and adjusted. Kick starting while standing to the side is very painful do too after many years of barrel rolling class 8 Score off-road trucks and playing ice hockey. My back can't contort that way anymore. My son kick starts it with one kick standing to the side. Ah to be young again.
What is the downside to this method?

Kickstarting on the center stand won't harm anything. Long term storage is the real issue.

Can't hurt the isolastics by bouncing on them hard as ya can, its the side stand and bolt or the center stand holes that take the beating and bending over time. But what the heck start it any way ya can and just fix the stands if they get worn. Once ya get the sense of mood of you bike, to tickle or not, usually only one swift kick needed.
