I'm redesigning the throttle cable bracket and wheel location of Keihin CRS smoothbore carbs for Nortons. Those who have them on their Nortons - please check the photos below and tell me if the square throttle bar will clear the tank. Note that it is level with the heigth of the idle screw/plate and protrudes about 1/4" from the end of the throttle shaft. (I don't have a Commando on hand to check - just a featherbed).

Can you add some dimensions to that?
The alum bar extends 5/8" outward from the center of the idle screw to within 1/4" of the end of the shaft. The top of the bar is even with the height of the idle screw head. You need to have my 1st version of these carbs installed to check the bar clearance to the tank.

I quit selling them for a few years but people have been asking so I'm working on firing them up again if I can do it without so much labor converting them to fit commandos. Having manifolds made now and waiting for confirmation on the cable bracket clearance.

Hey Jim just put the tank back on and yes I believe your redesign will clear

What if the cable housing went straight forward from the top of the wheel as in the photo? Would it clear the petcock - if so by how much?

Some one please tell me if the right end of the throttle shaft would clear the petcock if a line was drawn forward from the end of the shaft?

With Interstate tank the petrol tap is 1.375" forward of the spindle centre line, & from the end of the spindle is also 1.375" to the back of the tap (standard Ewarts type)

Martyn.

On all Commandos is there at least 1/4" sideways clearance from the end of the throttle shaft to the petcock as shown below. Photo below shows 3/8" sideways clearance.
